Consistently bad BBQ. They used to be the best thing going in this area but no more. Rib and brisket are dry, tough, of poor quality. On the other hand I am told the cat fish is great.
They've added planked salmon to the menu and it was superb. Moist, tender, nice grill char marks, just the right amount of a sweet tangy barbecue sauce, delicious. I'm dairy allergic, so I'm always looking for good dairy free options. I had the salmon along with collard greens and grilled pineapple. Lovely meal!
It's a franchise so if you've been to one, you've been to them all. Their food is good, prices are OK. One thing Famous Dave's used to do is make you feel like you're eating at a local BBQ instead of a franchise or chain. They're losing their touch with this and it's starting to feel more like a franchise or chain including their service and menu options. On our last visit we ordered takeout and it turns out they use a call center to take those orders so instead of talking directly to the store, you go through a third party which can (and did) cause errors in the order. Even the employees were complaining about this process.
Four stars for the food, two stars for the current vibe (2017).
Food came fast, order was accurate and tasted great! They did accidently give us some extra ribs. Employees are courteous and friendly. Clean. Great atmosphere.
I was here with my mother today and the food was good tasting, but the portions for $ 18 was really small and unbelievable. I asked if the half slab was six ribs and the lady said yeah. And that I would get an extra piece of meat, so I ordered the Georgia pork, which was the size of my palm or smaller. My mother than told the women at the counter that she had ordered extra fries, and they didn't give them to her. The lady with the short black bob walked back and threw her arms in the air right in front of her manager.....NEVER COMING BACK.
